Amidst overgrown foliage, beer cans, and old holiday decor, lies the reality of hoarding and its impact on individuals' lives and surroundings. Children’s toys juxtaposed with eviction notices symbolize the hardship many individuals with compulsive hoarding disorder face. Hoarder’s Porch is the foundation work of Kelly’s thesis, The Need to Keep. Through techniques such as the use of aluminum foil for the tarp on the roof and torn paper for the wasp nest, Kelly creates a realistic and relatable narrative.
